Five New Mexico MainStreet Executive Directors Complete Certification Program

The Grants, Nob Hill, Harding County, Belen and Corrales leaders will receive their certificates at the National Main Street Conference in Detroit

Santa Fe – The New Mexico MainStreet Program (NMMS) announces five program executive directors recently completed the Executive Director Certification Program through the National Main Street Center. To receive certification, executive directors must attend two NMMS network meetings and the statewide conference, and participate in several required trainings within one calendar year.

“It is wonderful that we have local leaders committed to work toward and complete this certification process which will enhance their communities’ MainStreet programs,” said New Mexico Economic Development Secretary Jon Barela, whose department runs the New Mexico MainStreet Program. “They will continue to do great things in revitalizing historic areas of commerce to create jobs and improve quality of life in our state.”

The following will receive their certificates at the Main Street National Conference in Detroit this May.

  • Bianca Mitchell, Grants MainStreet
  • Bob Turner, Nob Hill MainStreet a former executive director
  • Mary Libby Campbell, Harding County MainStreet
  • Rhona Espinosa, Belen MainStreet Partnership
  • Sandy Rasmussen, Corrales MainStreet, Inc.

New Mexico MainStreet (NMMS) executive directors are tasked with building upon their existing skills through the NMMS Executive Director Certification program. This is because NMMS relies on its executive directors and their supporting boards to achieve success in each of New Mexico’s twenty-seven MainStreet communities.

Benefits of achieving New Mexico MainStreet manager certification include: recognition of the manager’s accomplishments and professional development; expanded skill base and knowledge of MainStreet management; and, as available, enhanced educational scholarship opportunities from New Mexico MainStreet.

Local MainStreet projects benefit from the program by having a better-educated, more resourceful staff leader who is better able to guide and support the work of the organization’s board of directors and committees.
