Your Website: The World’s Window to Your Business

From the NMMS eNewsletter June 2011

At our May 13th NMMS Economic Positioning and Promotion Institute in Las Vegas, participants reviewed successful business development features of MainStreet and other revitalization organizations’ websites. A long-dependable and effective website is Artesia MainStreet’s. Watch for exciting updates in images and layout in the weeks ahead. Business development features include “Works in Progress” that convey to existing and prospective businesses that dramatic public and private investment is happening in downtown Artesia. The “Available Properties” tab shows priority business development opportunity sites.

Nob Hill MainStreet’s website offers a persuasive tab called “Business Opportunities / Doing Business in Nob Hill.”  By highlighting compelling market data in a well-laid-out single screen, the “Statistics and Facts” tab backs up the organization’s claims that the district is a great place to locate a business.

The Albuquerque Downtown Action Team’s website provides an informative “Retail Recruitment” tab with easy links to consultant documents that set forth the district’s retail strategy. To attract new downtown residents, the “Live” tab profiles downtown neighborhoods, the growers market and real estate services.

The website of the Business and Industry Affairs Department of the City of Littleton, Colorado, demonstrates why that community is famous for its impressive economic gardening program. Comprehensive business support services are illustrated in rich content and numerous downloadable support documents.

The Downtown Berkeley Association sets forth a clear market position as an arts, culture and entertainment district under its website’s “About Downtown Berkeley” tab. A link to the City’s website lands the viewer to a superior available commercial space listing for the district and citywide.

When designing your new or improved MainStreet website, be sure to visit these and many, many other sites for great ideas.
