New Mexico MainStreet offers a range of educational opportunities on an annual basis to develop local leadership and capacity to implement projects and initiatives and accelerate economic growth and revitalization through the Main Street Four-Point Approach®. Find upcoming training events on our calendar!

Training is key in developing revitalization partners and resources to drive Economic Transformation Strategies in our MainStreet communities.

The MainStreet Bootcamp includes the following trainings:

  • Organization Overview: Fundamentals of the MainStreet Approach, Nonprofit Management Essentials, and Main Street America Accreditation & Reporting
  • Executive Director Roles/Responsibilities and Board and Volunteer Development
  • Small Business/Entrepreneur Development
  • Building the Creative Economy
  • Property Redevelopment.
  • Historic Preservation, Building Improvements, and Curb Appeal
  • Urban Planning, Site Design, Placemaking and Landscape Architecture
  • Promotion Basics – More than just events!
  • Graphic Design, Communications, New Mexico MainStreet Media/Messaging

MainStreet Advanced Courses:

  • Fundraising (three-part series): Techniques and processes to adequately support the organization’s efforts in resource development.
  • Grant Writing (four-part series): Training in the skills and techniques for effectively writing grants for MainStreet District events, activities and projects.

On-Site Training and Professional Technical Services:

  • Accelerator Coaching over an intensive 18-month period
  • Annual Site Visits
  • Board Development and Organization
  • Service Requests and On-Site Technical Assistance by Revitalization Specialists
  • Technical Assistance to Frontier Communities, Historic Theaters, and other network members.

Webinars:

  • Webinars offer content delivery in asset-based economic development over the lunch hour that can be attended remotely. Series include organization and board development, preparation for site visits, as well as content for other network members.

Other Professional Development:

  • Arts & Cultural Districts Semi-Annual Workshop
  • Specialized Institutes (Historic Preservation, Creative Placemaking, Entrepreneurial Development, etc.)
  • Specialized Regional Institutes in developing Organizational Capacity

Main Street Now National Conference:

  • New Mexico MainStreet may provide scholarship support for MainStreet Executive Directors and Board Members to attend the Main Street Now National Conference. Attendance enables MainStreet Leaders to keep up-to-date on the accomplishments and innovations of other MainStreet leaders nationally and attend advanced trainings in the Main Street Four-Point Approach®.
